Routine has offered a vital bit of stability to a lot of people during lockdown and one of the first routines we started in my flat was Friday night pizza, beginning as soon as The Flat opened back up for takeaway. We haven’t missed a single Friday since.
The Flat is an indie staple in Exeter, serving up the best veggie and vegan pizzas I’ve ever had (the truffle and the fresh are my staples) and always with a smile. They’re a tight-knit team and Fore St just wouldn’t be the same without them.
Lockdown saw them venture into delivery services, trialling Deliveroo and JustEat, while their small space was closed to diners. We quickly discovered you had to get your order in quick before they sold out.
The Flat is run by some of the loveliest human beings and the fact that they make damn good pizza is the icing on the cake.
“COVID-19 has been such a challenge on so many levels, for all of us and every day we feel very grateful to still be trading in some capacity,” says Chloe.
“It has given us a lot of hope we can survive COVID having the support of our wonderful customers ordering pizza through these uncertain times. Their love of pizza has literally been keeping us going.”
